Rust game review12/26/2023 ![]() ![]() What will keep you coming back day in and day out is running into that new random person and working through how you're going to interact with them. What makes Rust enjoyable are the interactions that you have with others. It's not even being able to bash people over the head with a rock (though that is pretty fun). What makes Rust fun isn't just being able to gather materials or build the home of your dreams. It’s wildly unfair at times and wholly human in all ways, you’ll meet friendly people and not so friendly people. Once you’ve mastered this a few times you’ll be ready to move forward by making yourself a bow and a home.įor being as fun as it is it’s not without it’s own set of issues. Starting a fire can attacts a few unwelcome guests so be wary of the sounds of people walking around you while cooking at night. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the fire as it can burn your food if you leave it in too long or the fire can go out if it runs out of wood. Start by building a fire from the build menu, once you’ve got it going you can cook your food by opening up the fire and placing the uncooked chicken in with the wood. Once you’ve got a bit of food you’ll want to cook it so you don’t end up with food poisoning. Sneaking up on animals will net you some extra success though you’ll have to chase them a bit swinging your hatchet to bring them down and get some meat which is always in the form of Chicken. Once you’re ready to head out and get some food you’ll need to find some animals, try to stay away from Wolves and Bears as they are going to prove a bit too difficult with just a hatchet and no clothes. ![]() Once you have the right materials you can open up your build menu and create a stone hatchet which you can use to get yourself some food or continue to gather. You can use your rock to hit trees and special rocks which will allow you to gather some stone and wood. ![]() ![]() Type your paragraph here.įor your first goal in Rust, aim to build a hatchet and get some food. Rust has some similarities to Roguelike games, when you die you start again in a new spot with nothing but a rock to your name. Rust is one of those games where you feel a real sense of accomplishment once you figure out how to build your first shack, or gather enough food to survive the night while successfully navigating back without loosing where you built your shack. If you want to start off slow and master a few things first you should take a look at starting off on a private server with a small population. If you’re feeling like you want the full hardcore experience join a public server with a lot of people. Depending on how many people are already on the server that you're playing on you could live from a single minute to several hours. You wake up naked, on an island, with a rock and the simple goal of surviving. Your first day in Rust is typically the most memorable, expect to die… a lot. But at the end of the day it can all come apart when a naked mad with a rock comes along and bashes your head in. You can create weapons, armor and even build giant wood or metal homes to live in. In Rust you have to hunt and scavenge up enough raw materials to survive. Rust is like a strange baby that popped out of Minecraft after The Lord of the Flies had its way with it. ![]()
